Dear Poland HS Band Parent:

Happy New Year! It is the day after our band returned from a very successful trip to New Orleans. LA for the BCS National Championship Game halftime show performance. Obviously, this was a great honor, as our students certainly represented our band, our school district, our community, and our state with dignity and the excellence that is a trademark of Poland Bands. Special KUDOS to Mr. Olesko, Mr. Hvizdos, Mrs. DeFrancesco, and PSHS Principal Snyder for the effort required to bring this special event to fruition. Many thanks to all of you who have graciously volunteered this year for the football games, concession stands, chaperones, field clean up, band nights, tag day, pasta dinner, fruit sale, and numerous other times when we needed you to step. We will be hosting our annual Sub sale the week before the Super Bowl; information came from Mr. Olesko in a group Email this afternoon. Stephanie and I are so grateful to be part of such a giving group and we look forward to a great winter and spring season.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 7:00pm in the HS Band Room. The meeting will include a financial update on our fundraisers, activities that the band and parents association will participate in, short- and long-term plans, an update on the state of music education in the Poland School District, and we will begin to discuss the end of the year PSHS Band Banquet where we hope to have all students and as many parents to attend, and information about the winter and spring activities of our concert and jazz bands. Also, we will begin to solicit parents to consider filling positions for the 2012-13 year that are being vacated by graduating band members.
